We believe that education is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, inequality, and poor health. By providing access to education through charity schools, we’re not just teaching children to read and write; we’re empowering them to build a better life for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Our primary mission began with Father Joe and Sister Maria’s dream to send every poor child to school. Today, our 17 Mercy Kindergartens are at the heart of our community outreach, serving nearly 1,000 children in marginalized communities.

We provide everything they need to learn, from nutritious meals to educational materials. Our dedicated team of social workers and teachers identifies the children most in need of support. By keeping children in school, we give them a safe place to learn and a path to avoid the dangers of the street, including drugs, crime, and teenage pregnancy.
Mercy’s Graduations
Graduation — Our Most Important Milestone
The heart of our charity schools education program is graduation. Every year, our preschoolers proudly graduate and move on to First Grade in Thai government schools. This transition is the most meaningful proof that our work matters: children who once faced the limits of poverty now take their first step into mainstream education, opening the door to a future filled with opportunities. Graduation from Mercy’s charity schools isn’t just a ceremony — it’s the moment where the cycle of poverty truly begins to break.
The Janusz Korczak School
Serves street children, foreign-born children who lack Thai citizenship and the documentation to register with government schools, and children with special needs who otherwise would have no other school to attend. Today, the majority of our students in our charity schools are from Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos. We have many older children from the streets who are far behind their peers and have little or no confidence in their academic skills.
