Executive Director
Usanee Janngeon
Usanee guides the organization’s long-term sustainability and strategic direction. She works to strengthen governance and internal systems while supporting programs that expand education access, protect children, and serve vulnerable communities.
She focuses on turning vision into meaningful action by working closely with international partners, donors, and local teams. Grounded in compassionate leadership and practical experience, she remains committed to ensuring that Mercy continues to provide stability, care, and opportunity for children and families in need.

Current Snapshot
At Mercy Centre, we have an open-door policy welcoming every child into our Mercy Homes (Orphanages) — no matter their background or circumstance.
We currently have 86 children between the ages of 3 and 20 in our Mercy Home care. We support children living with HIV/AIDS, children with disabilities, street children, and those most at risk.
Our mission is not only to protect them, but also to empower them through education, thereby creating opportunities for a brighter future.
From Mercy’s beginning in a single slum school, we have grown into a family that today operates 17 kindergartens.
Every day, we provide care, education, and support to nearly 1,000 children from the local slum communities, and over the years we have taught more than 30,000 children how to read and write.
We offer a safe space where children can simply be children again; a place to learn, to play, to dream, and to grow. Mercy Centre is more than an organization; it is a family. At Mercy Centre, every child has a name, a story, and a chance to thrive.

every child deserves a fair chance at life. Each award reflects the trust placed in our work for the poor. Highlights of our recognition include:
1985 – Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand
Father Joe received this royal honor, recognizing his lifelong commitment to the Thai people.
1989 – National Housing Authority of Thailand
HDF’s housing program was recognized as a national model for providing safe, affordable homes for low-income families.
1994 – Justice & Peace Award
Father Joe was honored by the Redemptorist Order in Denver for his commitment to justice and the poor.
1997 – ESCAP HRD Award
Our foundation was named the best NGO among 41 Asian nations.
1997 – Shining Diamonds of Bangkok Father Joe was recognized by the Governor of Bangkok for outstanding citizenship.
1998 – Special Achievement Award
The National Council of Thailand for Child Development recognized HDF for its work empowering children.
1999 – Koman Kim Tong Foundation Award.
Honoring Father Joe’s outstanding citizenship and service to the nation.
2000 – Royal Recognition
A new home for mothers and children living with HIV/AIDS was opened under the patronage of H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana.
2004 – Lifetime Achievement Award
From Her Majesty the Queen of Thailand, Father Joe was honored as the foreign resident who has contributed most to the protection of women and children in Thailand.
2004 – Outstanding Citizenship Award for social work and community development
In the field of HIV/AIDS, Father Joe received the award from the Red Cross AIDS Research Centre, presented by Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsavali Phravorarajatinuddamatu.
2009 – Child Protection Ambassador for Thailand
Father Joe was named Child Protection Ambassador by the Thai Parliament House, presented by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.
2012 – National Human Rights Commission of Thailand Award
Honoring Father Joe as a national hero for his lifelong fight for the rights of the poor.
2024 – Thailand Moral Award
Recognizing Father Joe’s enduring contributions to social development and support for the underprivileged.
