Sea Angels in Rags

17 June 2020

Dear everyone,

We began the old fashioned way:  food for our “Sea Angels in Rags” basic Thai reading & writing & arithmetic.  Food because literally there was nothing to eat on that island, which the angels chose for us.
Join one Infantry – Defend our Angels in Rags.

IT WAS LIKE  CLARION TRUMPET CALL – WITH THE RISING OF THE EARLY MORNING SUN  SHINING OVER THE RUSTY TIN ROOF OF OUR SLUM KITCHEN SCHOOL.  BEFORE SUN-UP REALLY .  THEY WERE ALL THERE.STANDING, SITTING, CANES AND WALKING STICKS ,  BUT ALL THERE.  WE HAVE COME TO ANSWER THE CALL.

Temple kitchens are always off to the side, unnoticed unless you are part of the kitchen staff — those devoted ladies who cook and clean for every ceremonial meal.  Auntie Grannie is one of the selfless.

From an article in Big Chili, a Bangkok-based magazine, about how Mercy Centre is working with the poor during the co-vid 19 crisis.
Twenty-two slum quality individual Kitchens every one of them the heartbeat really of each of our Klong Toey Shack Kindergartens –all geared to cook delicious Thai food and feed and better teach our 2,000 slum kindergarten kids scattered throughout the slums of Bangkok and the Mogan Sea Gypsy kids in Mid-South Thailand. Here in the slums, all on rickety wooden walkways. Wherever there are children wanting to learn to read and write and eat a full meal. Learn their prayers.

Feast of St Patrick

17 March 2020

Even though the dirty, ugly Covid – 19 Virus comes creeping and sneaking around our back door, like a smelly unwanted troll, our children won’t let the nasty monster in. “We wash our hands Fr. Joe.” All our mob of children and staff are safe and healthy.
