Feast of St Patrick

Dear all you fabulous lads & lasses, near and far,

Even though the dirty, ugly Covid – 19 Virus comes creeping and sneaking around our back door, like a smelly unwanted troll, our children won’t let the nasty monster in. “We wash our hands Fr. Joe.” All our mob of children and staff are safe and healthy.

I call each of you lads & lasses, my brothers & sisters, because you are. You who love our Mercy mob: used & abused, orphans, abandoned, forced to run away from horrible vicious homes to the streets – our children. The most fabulous kids on the planet, and we are honored and privileged beyond words to be their ‘second chance’ parents.

All they need ‘is a second chance’ and you HAVE GIVEN THEM THAT CHANCE…

So what about this terrible BAD GUY / THIS VIRUS …WHO WANTS TO ATTACK OUR own sons & daughters, even grand- children, here at Mercy Centre

I know you’re saying, Fr. Joe, what do you want me to do to help. What do our kids need? Do you need any money – and the answer is… right now…NO I don’t. We re okay. That’s why I am writing. To tell you all is okay. My myself, Fr Joe am not sick. Our staff are not sick.

Our children are not sick. All are healthy and well, even normal cheeky, spunky, totally happy, just the way children are supposed to be.

All our schools in Thailand are closed for summer vacation. The International schools are asking their students to work at home from their computers.

It seems as the Dept. of Education & Dept. of Health are going to keep all schools closed for a total time of TWO MONTHS (NORMAL TIME IS SIX WEEKS)

What about our 22 kindergartens with 2,000 kids? In the slums….. and our sea gypsy kids. Our kindergartens need to stay open, as a few parents have nowhere else for their young children, but each slum shack school is safe, and they clean meticulously daily for the handful of remining children and the teachers are happy to teach. The Sea Gypsy folks use this non school time to visit kinfolks in various islands throughout the Adriatic sea.

In short – all is well. Just wanted all of you to know. To keep more in touch, please do email me: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

or our Ms Nitaya who looks after the sponsored children: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

or look up our web site: www: mercycentre.org and we will do our best to keep you informed as quickly as possible.

We’re staying strong, healthy, and united, taking it one day at a time.

Prayers as always Fr. Joe & all of our children & all of us.
