Dear everyone

It’s Songkran. New Years in Thailand. April 13 counting the months by the moon.

It shall be an awesome day. Just thinking about it, it is already. Awesome. Over five hundred folks (of an age) Klong Toey originals usually with their grand children in tow and mostly who attend our nine slum neighborhood kindergartens in our immediate Klong Toey area.

So many ‘elders’ who have learned to read and write from our kindergartens thru the past 46 years – coming now today with their grand kids and great grand kids; beautiful Thai dance movements and chants, gently singing and swaying, still remembered of their youth, blessings with lustral water, traditional style Thai, at our New Year’s festivities. Songkran. Today, a day to forget all sorrow and pain. Today, a day of joy. Yes, lot of elders with their grand children – all so poor, they can barely afford to Eight Baht (twenty cents American for a local pick-up transport. But the pain and sorrow is for tomorrow. Today is a special day the Lord has made

It’s late in the day to send you an invitation, but better late than never. We even have a Grand mother queen of the day (you must be over70 to qualify) and her princess (you must be under 6) so we want you to know. If for some reason, you can not come to Lock #6 of the Klong Toey slums – then please do celebrate where every you are and be joyful with your children and children’s children. And as least scan us a picture so we can show our ‘family here.’

เทศกาลสงกรานต์วันขึ้นปีใหม่ไทยวันที่ 13 เมษายนนับตามปฏิทินจันทรคติ

แค่นึกถึงวันสงกรานต์ก็ทำให้รู้สึกยอดเยี่ยมแล้วผู้สูงอายุมากกว่า 500 คนในคลองเตยมาพร้อมกับลูกหลานและโดยส่วนมากหลานๆของพวกเขาเรียนที่ศูนย์เด็กปฐมวัยทั้ง 9 แห่งของเราในเขตคลองเตย

ผู้สูงอายุเหล่านี้มากับหลานๆที่ไปเรียนเพื่อที่จะอ่านออกเขียนได้จากศูนย์เด็กปฐมวัยของเราที่ก่อตั้งขึ้นมานานถึง 46 ปีคุณตาคุณยายคุณปู่คุณย่าดูการแสดงของเด็กๆได้มีเวลาพูดคุยกันร้องเพลงร่วมกันรำวงด้วยกันรำลึกถึงสมัยที่พวกเขายังเป็นเด็กๆ เราอวยพรพวกท่านด้วยน้ำอบที่หอมตามประเพณีของคนไทยวันนี้วันสงกรานต์เป็นวันที่ให้เราลืมความโศกเศร้าและเจ็บปวดวันนี้เป็นวันน่าชื่นชมยินดีเป็นเรื่องจริงที่ผู้สูงอายุหลายคนพร้อมกับหลานๆเป็นคนยากจนพวกเขาไม่สามารถแม้แต่จะมีค่ารถเพียงแค่ 8 บาท (20 เซ็นต์ของเงินอเมริกัน) ที่จะมาร่วมงานแต่ความโศกเศร้าและเจ็บปวดเป็นเรื่องของพรุ่งนี้วันนี้เป็นวันพิเศษที่พระเจ้าได้มอบให้กับเรา

ผมรู้ว่าอาจจะช้าไปที่จะเชิญทุกท่านมาร่วมงานกับเราในวันสงกรานต์แต่ว่าช้าดีกว่าไม่เชิญเลยเราจะมีการประกวดเทพีสงกรานต์ (แต่คุณต้องมีอายุมากกว่า 70 ปีขึ้นไป) และหลานเทพีสงกรานต์ (อายุต้องน้อยกว่า 6 ปีเช่นกัน) ถ้าคุณไม่สามารถมาร่วมงานกับเราที่ล๊อค 6 สลัมคลองเตยได้เพียงแค่แบ่งปันภาพความสุขของคุณกับครอบครัวและลูกหลานมาให้เราเราจะได้โชว์ให้ครอบครัวของเราที่นี่ได้เห็นด้วย
