Fire & Mercy Heroes

27 July 2023

Dear Everyone,

Blessings on a Monday morning – it’s not that often I get to write and tell you about our Heroes. Of course, every Mercy kid is a Hero. “Daughters and Sons” as goes the Irish song. Mercy orphans, who fought off the “bad guys” and still do… that’s why they are with us here at Mercy. Still, I don’t get to show you even some of little stuff, actual pictures very often – so “here we go”.

This one is easy. Our Ms. Prawina mailed photos to a few of you good folks.  Pictures of us cleaning up after a near-by recent slum fire, and that was cool, but I want to show all “you guys.”  You know, everyone sings in the choir.  All our 70 Mercy orphans, after week-end Mass, walked the dirt path ten minutes to the slum fire area; our orphan kids who make Mercy their home.  They have no other.  About 70 of them walked down to help clean up the mess.   As you know, fires have no mercy, they destroy everything.  We also donated our week-end Mass collection (everyone has to donate two Thai Baht), a total amount of almost two US dollars. But enough for some bottles of drinking water for a couple of elderly fire victims.

The pictures only show a few of our kids, but it’s enough to give you an idea.  The kids are proud of themselves.  Proud that they helped.  Orphans to the poor.

We call ourselves “Mercy Thunder” = Mercy Thunder in Action = Orphans helping the poor.

Thank you for joining us.  I am sure the pictures will explain a lot.

Prayers and Respect.

Fr. Joe & our Mob of Mercy Thunder
